- 5G will be available by the year 2020 in Pakistan.
Pakistan is currently running on 4G technology. Only Zong has tested 5G technology in Pakistan. So, it can be said that 5G is not yet working in Pakistan but it is in trial phase and may be launched in 2020.
CMPak Limited, commonly known as Zong in Pakistan and is owned by China Mobile has conducted 5G tests successfully in the presence of senior government officials and telecom executives.Zong was the first telecom company to launch and support 4G in Pakistan and now after performing 5G test successfully, it can be said that Zong will also lead in 5G. However, It has also been observed that Zong 4G provides the fastest internet among all of the telecom companies.
IS ZONG CAPABLE OF RELEASING 5G..??
On 29th April, 2014, Zong won the Spectrum Auction for Next Generation Mobile Services to become the only 3G & 4G operator in Pakistan. Winning the liscences of 3G and 4G means zong could launch its services in the country much earlier than its competitors. On that occasion Dr. Fan Yunjun, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, ZonG said, “I would like to congratulate the Government of Pakistan & PTA for making the bidding process extremely transparent and fair, and also acknowledge the entire ZonG team who is now a part of history, as their hard work and determination has finally paid off. China has a long term commitment to people of Pakistan and Zong is committed to service excellence and believes in bringing the best technology with the virtue of the world’s largest 3G and 4G operator.”
The fourth generation of communication technology was released in late 2000s which was faster than its predecessor 2G and 3G. 4G made mobile internet very fast and online streaming was flawless. It gives rise to more technological advancements in mobiles.
However, things have now changed. Mobile users are increasing tremendously and 4G may not be able to handle all those connections. It is also estimated that by the year 2020 more than 20billion mobile devices will be connected to internet. Moreover videos are now available in up to 4k video resolution. So, a faster and more efficient internet is required to ease users in streaming 4k video. That is why technologists have come up with an idea of 5G.
5G has started to attract users when they saw its capabilities. 5G capabilities were demonstrated in 2018 Winter Games in PyeongChang. And now the Zong company has initiated testing and trials of 5G in Pakistan. Hopefully Pakistani will be able to enjoy the speedy 5G very soon.
